BERINSFIELD face an anxious wait for their North Berks League Division 1 title hopes to be decided, writes Phil Annets.

The reigning champions remain top after completing their league campaign with a comfortable 5-0 home win over East Hendred on Saturday, courtesy of a David Murphy brace and goals from Max Palmer, Luke Saunders and Chris Murphy.

However, their three-point lead can still be hauled back by nearest rivals Kintbury Rangers and Lambourn Sports, who have two and three games respectively in hand.

Abingdon Town’s slim hopes were extinguished with a 2-1 defeat at Kintbury. Charlie Allsop and Russell Benham scored for the hosts either side of a Pat Mannix strike for Abingdon.

Ashley Searle and Sam Larking struck late as Wallingford Town came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Faringdon Town.

Christian Wills had given the visitors the lead, but Wallingford struck twice in the final ten minutes to seize victory.

In Division 3, Benson Lions lost 3-2 at North Oxford, who secured second spot.

Andrew Richardson and Tom Hearns scored for Lions, but goals from Jamie Buchanan, Aaron Williams and Jack Hinkin gave North Oxford the three points they needed.

Two goals each for Pete Byrne and Dom Terrett, as well as one apiece for George Heath and Luke Melville, gave Uffington United a 6-0 home win over Newbury Res.

East Hendred Res are the Division 4 champions following their 3-0 win at Hagbourne United, courtesy of a Liam Eltham double and an Alex Lynch strike.

Wallingford Town Res were beaten 3-0 by Kintbury Rangers Res in the final of the Nairne Paul Trophy, with Luke Johnson scoring twice either side of a Craig Bruce strike.

Lambourn Sports won the Charity Shield with a 4-3 victory after extra time over Burghclere, thanks to a brace apiece from Ben Matthews and Richard Guy. Curtis Angell netted twice and John Taylor also scored for Burghclere.
