BENJI Buchel admitted not for the first time this season he was grateful to Danny Hylton for a goalline clearance which helped Oxford United to a 2-0 victory at Carlisle United.

The goalkeeper had an excellent game, especially making a vital save to deny Alex Gilliead as the hosts pushed for an equaliser in the second half.

He was beaten only once, following a scramble at a corner, so was relieved to look back and see Hylton hack the ball off the line.

The Liechtenstein international said: “I touched it lightly with my feet and luckily Hylts was behind me.

“I think that’s now the third time he’s done that this season, so cheers Hylts.”

Overall the goalkeeper was pleased with his performance – and the entire back four who kept a second successive clean sheet to remain in the box seat for automatic promotion.

He said: “It was a great game from everyone and I’m happy to get a clean sheet as well.

“It was a good save (from Gilliead). I just worked hard the whole week and tried to give my best to keep the team in the game and luckily I saved it.”

Buchel added: “Maybe it was a bit nervy, but at the end you’ve got to do what you have been doing all season and we produced another good performance.

“It doesn’t really matter who plays in front of me.

“Everyone kept their shape, we defended really well and took our chances.”
