Oxford United are urging fans to go for a pre-match drink and barbecue ahead of their final home league match against Wycombe Wanderers.

After buying supporters a pint and hot dog before the clash with Carlisle on Saturday, chairman Darryl Eales is hoping home fans will get in the spirit for the promotion-deciding match by joining him and the United board at Littlemore Rugby Club, next to the Oxford Academy, before the game.

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family to take part in, with a mobile club shop also on site.

All proceeds from food and drink will go directly to the club.

The day is a pilot for what may become a regular occurrence so come and have a beer, a bite to eat, and prepare for the big match with us.

The event is free and starts at noon, with car parking available.

Eales said: "It all started with a brilliant fans barbecue out in Austria in pre-season so hopefully we can end the season with another great event ahead of Saturday's game.

"It's a chance for the fans to come and join us and for everyone to get together and get in the mood for what is a massive game for the club. We hope to see as many people there as possible."

Managing Director Greig Box Turnbull added: "This is a significant opportunity for the club, if the day is a success there is a decent chance it could be rolled out next season.

"This would provide us with a venue just a ten minute walk from the stadium that enables us to generate revenue for the club from matchday food and drink.

"Our ambition is to recreate the spirit and matchday atmosphere that many supporters enjoyed at the Priory."
