MASONS A went top of Section 1 of the Johnson’s Buildbase Oxford & District League with a resounding 6-0 victory over Section 2 leaders Marlborough Club.
Taking advantage of previous leaders Berinsfield Club’s free week, Masons romped home as Martyn Wood (5,940), Alan Lowe (5,910), Dave Rose (4,960) and Mick Murphy won their opening singles, before combining to win both pairs.
Masons lead by one point but Berinsfield have a game in hand.
Democrats won 5-1 at Headington Con Club thanks to Billy Hill, Richard Garrett and John Patey.
Premier Section leaders Vikings Club are closing in on the title after whitewashing Gladiators Club 6-0, with Alan Oliver (12,080), Ian Moss (10,340) and Pete Ewins (10,340) on top form.
Oracle also won 6-0 and are now level in second place with Didcot Con Club, who won 5-1 at home to Masons B thanks to Ian Moquet (7,530), Dennis Atkins (6,330), Melissa Standbridge (4,360) and Dave Tooke.
