SNOOKER: MICHAEL Bennett overpowered Mike Allen 2-0 to lift the Gentworks Oxford & District League’s Ted Allsop over 50s singles competition.
Bennett’s strong safety game proved too much.
He made the most of his chances and put on a break of 36 on route to a 86-41 victory in the second frame.
Allen beat Alan Pearce in the semi-final 2-0, taking the second frame after his opponent had fouled on the pink.
Bennett booked his place in the final with a 2-0 win over Pete Fenn.
BILLIARDS: ASHTON were crowned champions of Gentworks Oxford & District League Division 1 in dramatic fashion after edging Littlemore RBL 2-1 in a tense title showdown.
Visitors Littlemore showed their intention early on as Peter Franklin beat Pete Fenn 200-117.
But Ashton levelled with a 200-179 victory by Shane Chambers over Lewis Moss, leaving the two captains to battle for the league title.
Ashton’s Terry Chambers edged out Malcolm Bough 200-150 as his side clinched the title by just one point.
