ROBBIE Cundy says he has grown in confidence since joining Vanarama National League North side Gloucester City on loan.

The 18-year-old, who made his Oxford United debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Dagenham & Redbridge in December, is with the Tigers until the end of the season.

And he has impressed so much that he was named the league’s player of the month for January.

The teenager, who still trains with United during the week, as well as with Gloucester on Thursday evenings, wants to continue improving.

“I think it is going really well,” said the centre back.

“Since I have been there I have had a lot of success.

“I didn’t expect to get player of the month.

“It was my first time in that league, so I just wanted to do my best.”

Despite having made his debut for United, Cundy believes playing competitive games every week has helped his development.

He added: “I think I have come quite far.

“Playing men’s football, it is going to help me quite a lot.

“I think I am getting more confident.”
