THERE are signs a new partnership is beginning to flourish down Oxford United’s right flank.

Despite having played two full games together, Alex MacDonald and Jonjoe Kenny have shown glimpses of the threat they can pose to opposition defences.

Mansfield Town were troubled by the pair at times on Tuesday night, with Kenny getting forward from full back to lay on the first goal for Danny Hylton.

And the teenager, who is on loan from Everton, says it is all instinctive.

“It’s not really worked on,” he said.

“It is just natural, I know where he is and he knows where I am.”

MacDonald formed quite a partnership with George Baldock before he was recalled by MK Dons last month and hopes he can do the same with Kenny.

The 25-year-old said: “Jonjoe has been brilliant.

“He is a pleasure to play with and early signs are we are linking well, but it is something we are looking to improve on and hopefully it will blossom as well as it did with George.”
