DIDCOT Town aim to return to winning ways after a midweek defeat when they entertain Larkhall Athletic tomorrow.

The Railwaymen’s bid to climb up the Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West table was arrested when they lost 2-0 at Wimborne on Tuesday.

Joint-manager Ian Concannon was not too concerned with the performance.

“We dominated the play and were unlucky with several chances, and then got caught twice on the break,” he said.

“It halted our bid to move up the table, but we are determined to bounce back on Saturday.”

Concannon’s fellow joint-manager Jamie Heapy (thigh) and Jack Longford (shin splints) are still sidelined by injury, while Josh Dutton-Black is serving a suspension. In addition, Graham Edney is unavailable.

Banbury United are chasing a sixth straight win in their match at Swindon Supermarine.

But manager Mike Ford is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

“The bottom line is that if we don’t play well, we won’t win,” he said.

“The team’s growing nicely, and apart from having a few injuries a few weeks back, we’ve been able to field a settled side,” added Ford who saw them beat Wimborne 2-0 last week.

The Puritans are again unchanged.

Stuart Cattell praised Wantage Town’s battling qualities as they ended a losing run with a 1-0 win at home to Marlow on Saturday.

Interim player-manager Cattell, forced to watch from the sidelines due to suspension, saw them move out of the relegation zone.

“The victory was down to hard work and determination and we thoroughly deserved it,” said Cattell.

“I enjoyed getting a different perspective from the touchline, but it was a bit too cold for my liking and am glad to be back playing.”

Last week’s match-winner Aaron Ferris is unavailable for the trip to Slimbridge, but Carl Evans returns from honeymoon for Wantage, who lost 3-1 to Aylesbury United in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Having dropped five points out of the last six, second-placed North Leigh are hoping to return to winning ways at Tiverton Town.

The Millers followed their 1-1 draw at home to Yate on Saturday, with a 2-1 defeat at home to Evesham on Wednesday, when Morgan Williams scored their goal.

Mark Gee’s team will want to turn around their recent uncertain form.
