City of Oxford qualified for the National Arena League Premier Division South final with an impressive win in the second round in Crawley.

Leading from start to finish, City swimmers amassed 22 wins, 13 second and seven third places in the 50 events.

Among the Oxford winners were Evie Mclean, who took the girls’ 50m backstroke in the 10/11 years category and Ralph Cooke, who won the same event for the boys.

Natasha Fenton and Billy Wotton triumphed in the respective 13 & under 100m breaststroke for girls and boys.


Luke Wilby won the 100m backstroke in the boys’ 15 & under age group and Delphine Little took the same event for the 13 & under girls.

Ewan Springett was first in the 15 & under 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle events, and Fabian Whitbread landed the 100m backstroke in the men’s open age category.

Emily Ford was fastest in the girls’ 13 & under 100m butterfly and Emily Wood won the open women’s 100m breaststroke.

Maia Little took the girls’ 15 & under 100m breaststroke and Connor Bryan the boys equivalent City, who won nine of the 16 relays, join Guildford, Thanet, Sevenoaks, Beckenham and Wycombe in the final at Crawley on December 12.

Meanwhile, Witney came second in the Division 2 meeting at Braunstone.

Camille Duff led the way by winning the 11 & under freestyle and finishing runner-up in the 50m butterfly races.

Cameron Jarvis, Rory Jones, Malik Khazir and Jed Smithson won the 11 & under medley and freestyle relays Other individual first places came from Rhiannon Saunders, Ben Prosser and Tia Collett.
