Kieran Sanders turned from hero to villain as North Leigh’s superb nine-match winning start in league and cup was ended when they went down 2-1 at Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.

But the Millers still lead Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West by four points.

They took the lead after 32 minutes through Sanders, who struck a fierce shot past keeper Matt Bulman.

But then just before half-time, Sanders, with studs showing, lunged into tackle midfielder Chris Taylor and was sent off.

This transformed the game and on the stroke of half-time, Bradley Gray hit an unstoppable equaliser that flew over Leigh keeper James Foster.

It was backs-to-the wall for North Leigh in the second half, and their defence was breached in the 59th minute by Luke Hopper’s header.

Swindon’s Ashley Edenborough was dismissed in the 71st minute for a second yellow card, but North Leigh could not level.

Banbury United recorded their biggest league victory for 50 years when they thrashed Bashley 8-0.

Mark Bell led the way with a 14-minute hat-trick as the Puritans became the latest side to bash Bashley.

There was no hint of the massacre to follow in a goalless first 25 minutes.

But once Callum White knocked in the first Banbury goal, the floodgates opened.

Bell scored in the 30th, 36th and 44th minutes and there was even time for Duran Martin shoot home from 25 yards to make it 5-0 at half-time.

Further second-half goals came from Zac McEachran (54), Louis Joyce (58) and Nic Evangelinos (80).

An excellent display by kee-per Leigh Bedwell helped depleted Didcot Town draw 1-1 at home to Evesham United.

Andy Ballard and Mark Janes joined a list of absentees for Didcot, while their squad included Graham Edney, whose debut came in 2001 and Charlie Noble who made the step up from the youth set-up.

After two good saves from Bedwell Didcot had thought they’d taken the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Mark Francis’s header was ruled out for offside.

The hosts went ahead against the run of play ten minutes from time when Josh Dutton-Black’s shot was spilled by Kevin Sayer, and MarkFrancis bundled the ball home.

Within five minutes Evesham were level. Clayton Green’s cross was met by an unmarked Dan MacDonald who volleyed home. Only Bedwell’s super save denied MacDonald a late winner.
