DAMIAN Batt has made a generous donation ahead of his return to the Kassam Stadium tomorrow.
The former right back, whose four-year spell with Oxford United included the 2009-10 promotion-winning season, is the guest of honour for the home game against Portsmouth.
While he only turned 31 this week, Batt hung up his boots for good after a stint at Dagenham & Redbridge last season to focus on his business interests.
They also now include a charity, the Alexander Du’bel Wish Foundation, which grants terminally ill children their final wish.
Set up earlier this year, it will be officially launched at a star-studded event at Battersea Evolution in London this November.
And Batt has donated a table of ten, worth £3,500, which will be auctioned off by United to raise money for the Youth and Community Trust.
He said: “I knew I was coming for the game and thought it would be a nice way to give something back.
“I really had a good time and enjoyed playing there.
“It will be nice to come back and see some familiar faces.
“It’s a brilliant club and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before it takes off again.
“If this donation can help the community side in some way that would be a nice thing to do.
“I have always wanted to have my own charity.
“It’s actually been the hardest thing I have ever done, but even if we only help five children in the first year at least we have made a difference.”
