With new manager Paul Davis watching from the stands, Ardley United conceded an injury-time own goal to lose 2-1 away to Highmoor-Ibis in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.

Following the resignation of Kevin Brock as boss, Ardley appointed Davis, 29, who was in charge of Banbury United last season.

Davis saw the depleted line-up, which was was managed by Brian Robinson, work hard.

Highmoor took the lead through Sanchez Commock in the 28th minute.

Ardley equalised on the stroke of half-time, when Josh Bowden sent in a cross which Luke Ingram fired home.

The visitors looked like holding on, but in injury time, a cross from the left deflected off first Ollie Stanbridge and then Niall Higgins before ending up in the back of the net.

Abingdon United fought back to draw 1-1 at Briscombe & Thrupp.

The hosts took the lead in the 35th minute through Chris Greenough’s header.

Just before half-time, Abingdon levelled when Jamie Essex netted from 20 yards.

Some fine saves from keeper Tom Plumridge in the second half earned Abingdon a point.
