TOMORROW’S game with Oxford United will be used by Northampton Town fans to stage a protest towards owner David Cardoza.

Frustrations have risen over the lack of progress with a proposed takeover and development of the ground at Sixfields.

Cobblers boss Chris Wilder, who is coming up against United for the fourth time since leaving in January 2014, is trying to keep the focus on the field.

He told the Northampton Chronicle: “As far as I’m concerned, I’m trying to keep my head down and keep the football side of the club together.

“That’s my main priority.”

The Cobblers go into the game after picking up one point from the last four games in Sky Bet League Two.

And Wilder is well aware of the threat United pose.

He said: “I’ve got great memories of the time at Oxford, but it has changed quite dramatically and they’re having a go, which every football manager wants to hear.

“That’s not me heaping pressure on Michael (Appleton, United’s head coach), he understands that, and they have got some really good players that they’ve attracted to the club.

“I’m sure they’ll be in and around it, come the end of the season.”
