CARTERTON’S Wendy Sandy went one better than last year as she won the Gwen Steele Unbadged Singles.

The 2014 runner-up beat Sue Stewart, from South Oxford, 16-12 in the final at City and County.

In warm conditions, Sandy began with a crushing 14-1 victory against Josie Gilbert, who was playing on her home rink.

The semi-final was a very different challenge, as Eloise Jones from Banbury Central was squeezed out 11-10.

OXFORDSHIRE ladies suffered a 40-shot defeat to Hampshire on a wet afternoon at Whitchurch BC.

Due to the weather conditions, the match was played over 18 ends.

The visitors lost on four rinks, with Carol Penson avoiding a whitewash by finishing level at 13-13.
