DIDCOT Conservative Club pulled off the shock of the season with a 6-0 whitewash over leaders Vikings, writes PETE EWINS.

However, although the staggering success took them top of the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford & District League Group A table, Vikings still remain slight favourites to clinch the crown.

Going into the clash hoping to wrap up the title, Vikings are now two points behind Didcot, who have finished their campaign.

It means the championship race will go down to the final game of the season, when Vikings host West Oxford Democrats Club needing three points to finish top.

Jenny Florey (5,420 & 5,350), Sue Atkins (2,690 & 4,880) and Dave Tooke (4,440 & 5,260) were in top form for Didcot as they ensured they would end on a high.

Democrats drew 3-3 at home to Marlborough B.

In Group B, Bletchingdon finished their season by crashing to a 4-2 defeat at Marlborough A, severely denting their title ambitions.

Bletchingdon lead the group by one point, but Kennington will expect to win the two points required in their final game of the season at home to Gladiators to take the title.
