MICHAEL Appleton expects Oxford United to create chances after watching Sheffield Wednesday’s recent games.
The Owls’ approach has reminded the U’s boss of the two sides they have beaten this season.
Appleton stressed the Sky Bet Championship side will be warm favourites to progress, but thinks his underdogs have a shot at creating another upset.
He said: “We’ve seen them on the DVDs and they are very similar to Brentford and Notts County.
“They have two wide men who hug the touchlines, so there’s a bit of preparation we’ve had.
“We will have opportunities, there’s no doubt, it’s just whether we can stop them.”
Appleton is intending to make changes for the trip, which could see Josh Ruffels and John Lundstram come into the frame.
United’s only slight injury concern is over George Baldock (hamstring), so Sam Long may be drafted in at right back.
Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has rotated his squad this season and is expected to do so again.
Lewis McGugan should return after missing Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Leeds United when his wife went into labour.
Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood (back) is still out, so Lewis Price will deputise.
Sheffield Wed: from Price, Palmer, Lees, Sasso, Helan, Semedo, Lee, Sougou, McGugan, Wallace, Bus, Nuhiu, Matias, Wiggins, Hutchinson, Lopez, Hunt, De Havilland, Wildsmith.
Oxford Utd: from Slocombe, Baldock, Mullins, Wright, Skarz, Roofe, Sercombe, Rose, O’Dowda, Hylton, Taylor, Hoban, MacDonald, Ruffels, Lundstram, Dunkley, Long, Crocombe.
