GREAT & Little Tew extended their lead in Division 2 to 18 points after a seven-wicket win over second-bottom Cove.

Captain Andy Harris took 4-25 as the visitors were bowled out for 123, and Martin Coetzee led the way with 70 as Tew sealed victory.

The hosts won the toss, with Liam Manley and Matthew Woods combining to reduce Cove to 44-3.

The visitors were soon 50-5 as Harris caught and bowled James Marsh, before dismissing Luke Peterson for a duck.

The visitors’ only resistance came in a sixth-wicket stand of 40 between Jordan Finney and Jake Roylance.

However, when Finney (51) was caught by Robbie Catling off Joe Thomas the writing was on the wall.

Seamer Harris and Joe White dismissed Andrew Short, Reagan McLean and Roylance (31), before Cove were all out for 123.

In reply, Tew found themselves struggling at 16-2, before No 3 Harry Smith was next out.

However, Coetzee, ably assisted by Robbie Catling, steadied the ship from 50-3.

Coetzee’s quickfire 70 off 60 balls, which included eight fours and four sixes, helped Tew reach 124-3 in 29.5 overs.

Struggling Aston Rowant proved no match for Buckingham Town as they fell to an eight-wicket defeat.

Put into bat, Rowant only briefly had control before Jason Eli struck twice and Andrew Tolson was run out for 59-3.

Tom Condon and Josh Smith attempted to build an innings in a fourth-wicket stand of 36, before they were both dismissed, leaving Rowant 98-5.

Richard Cook (42), assisted by Wes Morrick, Adam Muttitt and Leo Bethell, helped them to 183-8, but they were all out for 195.

Their total never seemed enough and Buckingham were in control after Ashley Pearson (80) and Leigh Tomlinson (69no) shared a stand of 114 for the second wicket.

Bethell finally dismissed Pearson, but the hosts eased home.

Shipton-under-Wychwood are now 32 points adrift of the top two after suffering a six-wicket loss at promotion-chasing Amersham.

They were all out for 136 in 45.3 overs and Amersham sealed victory with four down.
