BICESTER Town joint manager Eddie Nix is looking forward to being part of a momentous occasion tomorrow.

The revived club play their first competitive match in four years as they host Finchampstead in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East at Ardley United’s Playing Fields.

Nix said: “We hope we can get off to the best-possible start.

“The interest in the town has been massive and we’ve already had more than 30 local businesses step forward to put money in the kitty before we’ve even kicked a ball in anger.

“I hope that we could have one of the biggest gates across all of Oxfordshire this weekend.”

Adam Garner, Dan Bone, Murray Nicholls and Gavin Kidd are among the new faces.

New head coach Steve Alman takes charge of a youthful Abingdon United side for the first time as they entertain Oxford City Nomads in their Premier Division fixture.

George Reid, Adam Bowerman, Dan Hunt and Kieron Brown are in line to make their debuts.

Kidlington start their campaign at home to Thatcham Town.

Ryan Brooks and Anaclet Odhiambo are in contention with fellow newcomer Elliott Powell for a debut up front.

Former Oxford United goalkeeper Sam Warrell is likely to make his first appearance, alongside new defenders Mark Flanagan, Bradley Chalmers and Tristan Laurence and midfielders Lewis Gabbidon, George Morris and Mark Begg.
