YOUNGSTER Olly Clarke was the star of the show for Banbury 2nd as his fine all-round display helped his side to a seven-wicket victory at home to Twyford in Cherwell League Division 1 on Saturday.

The Oxfordshire Under 17 player claimed four wickets to help skittle the visitors for 131, before he topscored with 34 not out to lead Banbury to a comfortable win.

Twyford skipper Jack Deal opted to bat first after winning the toss, but, with the exception of opener Shahid Mahmood, saw his side struggle to get going.

Mahmood (54) dominated an opening stand of 37 with Henry Wilkinson, who contributed just one run, but that knock aside, only three other Twyford players got into double figures as they regularly lost wickets.

Left-arm spinner Clarke was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 4-12, while Steve Hart took 3-30 and skipper Charlie Hill 2-39.

Twyford were shot out inside 45 overs, giving the hosts 55 overs to reach the target.

And they were never in danger of failure, with three useful partnerships sealing victory.
