BANBURY United put on a decent show against National League North side Nuneaton Town before two late goals gave the visitors a 3-0 victory at the Spencer Stadium in a friendly on Saturday.

Nuneaton went ahead after 36 minutes with a superb strike from Aaron Williams from the edge of the area which gave home keeper Jack Harding no chance.

The Southern League hosts responded well with Brian Bowles’s shot from 22 yards bringing out a decent save from keeper Jordan Smith.

There were lots of substitutions in the second half with Ricky Johnson, who had played at centre back in the first half moving forward to his more customary attacking role for Banbury.

John Steedman went close for Banbury when heading a Mark Bell free-kick just over the bar.

Goals from Nathan Hicks in the 76th minute, who converted a Ryan Smith cross, and Courtney BarkerRichardson, with another fine effort, sealed Nuneaton’s victory.
