Banbury Central recorded their fourth successive 6-0 win to keep up the pressure on Division 1 leaders Headington A in the Oxfordshire League, sponsored by Bridle Insurance.

Central’s latest victims were bottom club Bicester, who battled hard, but emerged pointless in a 96-73 scoreline.

Will Campion, Nigel Galletly, Les Campion and John Tee were the visitors’ successful skips.

Central remain six points behind leaders Headington A, who crushed Shiplake 6-0.

With their 119-53 victory providing the week’s highest shot total and three rinks scoring in excess of 30 shots, Headington’s win was as complete as the result suggests.

Leading the way was Nick Rae-Welsh’s rink, who swept aside skip Jim Bland 37-11.

Carterton also chalked up a century of shots to whitewash Oxford City & County 6-0.

Big wins for Paul Sharman and David Clanfield’s rinks saw the hosts triumph 108-54.

Despite winning on three rinks, Charlbury were only able to draw 3-3 at Division 2 leaders Watlington.

Shane Cooper’s four’s stunning 38-8 win over David Dix rescued a draw for the hosts, who edged the shots score 84-78.

Thame boosted their survival hopes with a 4-2 home win over South Oxford A.

The score would have been 5-1 in their favour had Dave Tidball’s rink not scored five shots in the last two ends to snatch a 19-17 win for the visitors.

Division 3 leaders Witney Town maintained their fine form with a 5-1 home win over strugglers Bloxham.

Brian Bloomfield’s side led the way with a 33-13 victory in the 93-68 scoreline.

The top two met in a crunch match in Division 4.

Banbury Central beat leaders Hanborough 5-1 in their Division 4 top-of-the-table tie.

Graham Haynes’s rink were Hanborough’s only winners.
