WES Morrick returns for Aston Rowant as they go in search of their first Division 2 win of the season at leaders Great & Little Tew tomorrow, writes JACK JOHNSON.

The South African all-rounder has been playing for Rowant’s XI in Division 2 of the Cherwell League as he has been ineligible to play in the Home Counties.

Rowant have been at the centre of a dispute with the league over his player category and with left-arm seamer Andrew Dyer selected there has been no place in the side for Morrick.

However, Rowant captain Josh Smith says the club has decided to register the 34-year-old, who will replace Dyer this weekend.

“We have been forced into registering him as an oversees player because the league are being non-responsive,” said Smith.

“As an all-rounder he is probably the best in the league and at some point we just had to make a decision to register him.

“It does not mean we agree with it, but it has happened.”

Rowant are forced into making two other changes with opener Damian Shirazi and George Reid unavailable and replaced by Andrew Tolson and Sasha Barras.

Great & Little Tew look to bounce back from Saturday’s two-wicket defeat to Buckinghamshire and make one change, with Lloyd Brock in for Robbie Shurmer.

Despite last week's loss, Tew captain Andy Harris is happy with his side's start to the season.

He said: “It's always disappointing to be on the losing side, but we bowled pretty well.

“Four games in, I'm quite happy.

“We’re batting very well, we’re scoring runs and we are being very competitive with the ball and in the field.

“I could not ask for much more.”

Shipton-under-Wychwood host second-placed Dinton and, after also losing their first game of the season last weekend at Gerrard Cross, captain Simon Hole is calling for a reaction.

“We hope to improve on last week’s disappointing performance,” he said.

“It was not up to the high standard we set ourselves.”

Shipton add Steve Bates and Charlie Miller to the squad.
