VETERAN Tony Bradford clanged off 15 dolls for the second time this season as Section 1 leaders New Club A enjoyed victory in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

The 81-year-old top scored (5-5-5) as New Club convincingly beat Red Lion A Eynsham 3-0.

New Club remain top with 12 points from five matches, four ahead of Black Prince A.

They won the first two legs 30-23 and 26-20.

After being set 27 in the final leg, Bradford, needing four to win, whipped off five dolls.

Paul Townsend top scored with 14 (5-5-4) and guided Black Prince B to their first win of the season at home to Yarnton British Legion.

Kevin Baker’s 13 (5-4-4) for Gladiators was in vain as they went down 2-1 at home to Black Prince A.

Gladiators took the first 22-16, but Black Prince levelled before sealing victory in the final leg 22- 17.

Rob Jeffery also hit a baker’s dozen in Garsington Sports B’s 3-0 win at The George in Section 4.

Philip Simpson hit double figures (2-3-5) as Donnington Club A beat The Pheasant Inn A by the same scoreline.

In Section 5, Six Bells B Kidlington just sneaked victory at Green Road Club B.

Bells set the first leg with 14 and in reply the clubmen’s anchor man Simon Hopkins whipped off the two dolls needed.

Warwick Morris took four dolls to level for Six Bells, who won the decider 16-13.

Mick Fallows had a mixed night for White Hart Wolvercote at home to Seacourt Bridge in Section 6.

After starting with a maximum six, he could manage only a three and a blob, but Wolvercote still claimed all three legs.

Robin Cooper took a dozen dolls (4-5-3) for Rose Hill Club C as they came from behind to beat The King & Queen 2-1.

Despite losing the first leg 16-12, Rose Hill came back to level and claimed victory in the decider.

In Section 7, Cowley Workers earned a 2-1 triumph at Florence Park B.

They set and won the first leg 17-16 and had to rely on three sticks in the next after the sides were locked at 14-14.

Florence Park secured a point, while Billy Munnelly was top dog for the Workers with ten dolls.

Original Swan A’s efforts were in vain as despite outscoring hosts Kidlington Football Club in Section 8, they still went down to a 2-1 defeat.

A comfortable 15-10 first leg success put Swan ahead, but they lost the next on three sticks and the decider 11-9.

In Section 9, White House Bladon and The Red Lion Cassington both scored 33 dolls, but it was the latter who came away with a 2-1 victory.
