Will Sutcliffe slammed 132 not out as Thame Town ended Tiddington’s 100 per cent record in Cherwell League Division 1 to get the better of a draw.

Thame amassed 250-3 in their 53 overs as Sutcliffe and Oxfordshire under 17 batsman Harry Thomas (41) shone against their local rivals.

Tiddington went all out for victory with Nick Pykett hitting 62 and Tom Rowley 52.

But Mike Higgs (4-53) turned the tide in Thame’s favour and high-flying Tiddington were eventually left clinging on for a draw at 232-9.

Twyford picked up their first win at the expense of visitors Banbury 2nd as they ran out victors by six wickets.

Ed Phillips (68), Tom Bradbeer (44) and Andrew Sabin (40) helped Banbury to a competitive 239-9, Tom Jackson taking 4-84 for Twyford.

Bilal Afzal then hit 90 not out in Twyford’s reply as they reached 241-6 to wrap up victory.

Oxford 2nd succumbed to their fourth straight defeat, this time at home to Leighton Buzzard, to stay rooted to the foot of the table.

Buzzard’s Lee Selfe took a hat-trick in figures of 6-24 as Oxford were tumbled out for just 105.

Oxford were given some hope when Mark Murfett bowled opener Anthony Francis with the first ball of Buzzard’s reply, while Sulaiman Khan Hussain took 3-13.

But the visitors reached 109-6 to seal victory, thanks largely to 47 not out from Phil Whatmore.

After two straight defeats, Cumnor remain on the up after their second successive victory, running out four-wicket winners at Long Marston.

Youngster James Fitzjohn was the star of the show for Cumnor.

He took 4-52 in the home side’s 221-7, and then top-scored with 45 to lead Cumnor to 222-6 and a superb victory.

Great Brickhill went top after a thrilling one-wicket victory at Wolverton.

The hosts were all out for 144, Babar Raja top-scoring with 46.

Idris Butt took 5-40 in Brickhill’s reply, but they sneaked over the winning line at 145-9.

Ryan Gordon slammed 147 not out as Challow & Childrey thrashed Aston Rowant 2nd by 155 runs in Division 2 to end their 100per cent record.

Gordon shared an opening stand of 133 with Justin Penrose and then an unbroken 159-run partnership with Hamish Matthews (65no), allowing Challow to declare on 292-1 in 49 overs.

Rowant were never in the hunt in their reply, Luke Jones the pick of the Challow attack with 5-38, while Matthews completed a fine all-round performance with 3-23.

Only Thad Cooper (44) and Tom Condon (35) got going for Rowant as they stumbled to 127 all out.

Adam Krol took 7-34 as Horspath 2nd took over at the top of the table with a four-wicket win at Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.

Nondies were shot out for 157 thanks to Krol’s fine haul, Pablo Mukherjee and Tim Rattigan hitting 33 apiece.

Jack Biggs led Horspath’s reply with 56 to see his side home in the 36th over.

Opening batsman Steve Dobson scored his maiden Cherwell League century, but it was not enough as Sandford St Martin had to settle for a draw at Bledlow Village.

Dobson bludgeoned 108 and Chris Thompson hit 50 in Sandford’s 265-8.

Thompson then claimed 5-34 for Sandford, but Bledlow were left clinging on at 161-9.

Robert Keat returned magnificent figures of 8-73 in 15 overs to help Didcot to a 115-run victory at Great & Little Tew 2nd.

Aiden Kammel hit 84 and Shaun Burningham 74 as Didcot were bowled out for 252, spinner Kevin Taylor taking 4-36, and Lawrence Brock following up last week’s nine-wicket haul with 3-66.

But Tew never got going and were shot out for 137 as Keat took centre stage with his eight-wicket heroics.

It was Didcot’s first win and Tew’s first defeat, in a remarkably one-sided affair.

Will Watts’s magnificent unbeaten century proved in vain for Oxford Downs as they had to settle for a draw at Abingdon Vale.

Skipper Watts finished on 112 not out after his side had been inserted, which helped Downs post 225-8 from their 53 overs.

Losing Frankie Crouch early, Watts and James France (31) shared 60 for the second wicket, and while wickets fell at regular intervals, the Downs’ captain provided the foundation for their competitive total.

He brought up his century in 140 balls, his knock containing ten boundaries.

Left-arm spinner Paul White returned 4-51.

The home side got off to a poor start as opener Amith Premkumar fell to Amin Rafiq for a duck.

Losing wickets at regular intervals hindered Vale’s progress, although the run rate did increase significantly when Joe Butcher and Michael Howe-Davies were at the crease.

However, a mix-up saw Butcher run out for 39, and when Howe-Davies (33) and Phil Armstrong (27) followed after some rapid scoring, Abingdon batted out for a draw.

Harry Sutton was the pick of the Downs’ attack, taking 3-41 in 15 overs.

The decision to declare one over early proved crucial as Cropredy maintained their perfect start in Division 3 with a 68-run win at home to Cublington.

Matt Walmsley-Pace (93) and Joe Fox (63) shone for the hosts, who declared on 242-5.

And the extra six balls were needed as Cropredy dismissed Cublington in that final over, Richard Lynch taking 3-35 and Jake Heath 3-62.

Ian Lewis’s maiden league century a day before his 35th birthday helped hosts Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd to a 33-run win at home to Dinton 2nd.

Lewis’s side were in some difficulty at 139-6 when he came to the crease, but he hit 12 fours and three sixes in a 94-ball 104, helping Shipton to 261-9 from their 53 overs.

Valentin Giroud then claimed 3-32 as Shipton dismissed the visitors for 228.

Tommy Newell was the star of the show for Blewbury & Wallingford as he helped his side to a three-wicket victory at Buckingham Town 2nd.

Newell took 5-46 in the hosts’ 170-8, and then top-scored with 46 to lead Blewbury home at 173-7.

Horley eased to an eight-wicket win at Banbury 3rd.

The home side were dismissed for 146, Neil Megson top-scoring with 33.

Oxford Downs 2nd proved too strong for visitors Bicester & North Oxford as they eased to a six-wicket win.

Phil Warson hit 61 in Bicester’s 124 all out, Steve Roberts taking 4-26.

Darryl Woods top-scored in Downs’ reply, hitting 40 as his side reached 127-4.

Pierre Lefort starred with 7-36 to help Witney Mills to a seven-wicket victory at Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd in Division 4.

Buzzard were shot out for just 147 thanks to Le Fort’s haul, before Peter Claridge (43) and Malcolm Evans (43no) led Mills to 151-3 and a comfortable success.

Nathan Brooks hit 74 as Tiddington rattled up 271-9, before Neil Smith (3-15) and Luke Hurley (3-26) helped to dismiss Brackley for 145 and keep their side level on points with leaders Great Brickhill.

Kingston Bagpuize fell to a two wicket defeat at Chearsley.

Arthur Verdin hit 40 in Kingston’s 161 all out, Matt Ricketts taking 4-13 and Neil Davies 3-42.

Youngster George Woodley was the pick of Kingston’s bowlers with 4-42, but a half-century from Ricketts (52) helped Chearsley home at 162-8.

Great Brickhill 2nd saw off Kimble by five wickets to stay top.

The hosts posted 230-6 in their 53 overs, only for Brickhill to cruise to 231-5 with nine overs to spare.

Stokenchurch wasted little time in beating Bletchley 2nd by nine wickets.

Hamzah Ahmed (3-16), Ryan Gurton (3-25) and Shabab Riaz (3-44) starred with the ball as Bletchley were dismissed for 143 in the 48th over.

Stokenchurch passed their target after 14.1 overs with Joe Brown’s 73 not out and Arshad Latif’s 57 leading the way.

Horspath 3rd moved up to second place in Division 5 after a five-wicket win at home to Twyford 2nd.

Stuart Berry took 5-37 as Twyford were bowled out for 135, before Dan Jones (32) and Matthew Turner-Wilson (30) led Horspath to 138-5.

Twyford 2nd 7, Horspath 3rd 25 Oxford 3rd leapfrogged Abingdon Vale 2nd into third place after getting the better of a drawn encounter.

Kashif Hafeez (57) and Miles Picknett (36) shone for Oxford in their 222 all out, Matt Butcher taking 3-52.

Vale never got close in their reply, but they easily batted out for a draw thanks to Paul Butcher (43no) and Stuart Cardy (38).

Aston Rowant 3rd are still looking for their first victory after a crushing 110-run defeat at home to Bledlow Ridge.

Bledlow reached 254-4 with George Gross hitting 59, Simon Lloyd 53 and Martin Middleton 47.

Ian Murdoch then claimed 5-37 as Rowant were bowled out for 144 and remain firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

East Oxford defeated visitors Thame Town 2nd by two wickets in a thrilling clash.

After choosing to bat first, Thame were bowled out for 120 in the 31st over, before East Oxford edged home at 124-8 thanks to 45 from Umair Ahmed.

Cumnor 2nd saw off visitors Long Marston 2nd by 49 runs.

Matt Karslake hit 37 as Cumnor posted 195 all out, before Christopher De Verteuil took 4-34 and Mark Kirsten 3-30 as Long Marston were bowled out for 146.

Tanveer Alam produced a man-of-the-match display with both bat and ball to steer East Oxford 2nd to an impressive 41-run victory at home to Sandford St Martin 2nd in Division 6.

Alam top-scored with 44 in East Oxford’s total of 201 all out, before he took centre stage with the ball, taking 5-42 as Sandford were bowled out for 160.

Rob Taylor claimed 5-42 and Simon Priscott 4-40 to help Great & Little Tew 3rd skittle visitors Bledlow Village 2nd for just 86.

Tew struggled to reach the meagre target, but crept over the winning line at 90-8.

In Division 7, an unbeaten 97 from Tim Coggins proved in vain for Cropredy 2nd as they had to settle for a draw at Abingdon Vale 3rd.

Cropredy posted 223-5, only for Vale to bat out for a draw at 153-7.

Adrian Summons’s century could not lead Aston Rowant 4th to victory at Witney Mills 2nd.

Summons hit 111 and Ben Coldicott 67 in Rowants’ 260-5, but, despite Alex Chapman’s 4-25, Mills held on at 214-8.

In Division 9, Shipton-under-Wychwood 4th were skittled out for a paltry 30 to crash to a ten-wicket defeat at Kimble 2nd.

Stuart Skeggs took 5-10 and Nathan Price 3-5, and Kimble cruised home in seven overs.
