Cowley Internationals finally got off the mark with their first win of the season as they defeated hosts Witney Swifts by five wickets in the first round of the OCA League's Airey Cup.

Holders Cowley were indebted to a superb all-round performance from Hajji Sadiqi, who took 4-42 and scored a century to book his side’s place in round two.

Swifts posted 211-9 with Grant Madden making 50 and Charlie Fisher 49.

But Sadiqi then hit 102 and Zabi Saeed 49 not out as Cowley sealed victory at 212-5.

Shrivenham cruised into round two with a crushing 180- run win at home to Oxenford.

Will Snell (66) and Conor Taylor (48) led Shrivenham to 264-8 in their 45 overs.

Taylor then returned figures of 4-50 and Matthew Harris 3-27, but the star turn came from Scott Valentine, who took 3-0 to skittle the Oxenford tail as they were all out for 84.

Great Horwood reached the second round with a 27-run win over visitors East & West Hendred.

They posted 152 all out as Matt Thatcher top-scored with 47.

Matt McStraw (3-14), Josh Nix (3-32) and Neil Wilkins (3-54) then combined to dismiss Hendred for 125.

Andy Crawford hit 88 and Tim Wyatt 71 as Stonesfield racked up 250-4 in their 104-run win at home to Charlbury.

The visitors were all out for 146 in their reply as Patrick Gardner took 4-32 and Peter Searle 3-3.

Radley cruised through with a nine-wicket win at Broughton & North Newington.

Ali Malik’s 4-39 helped to dismiss the hosts for 83, before Bilal Chauhan hit 44 in Radley’s 84-1.

Westbury won at Division 2 side Chipping Norton by six wickets.

Richard Ferley (64) and Ian Widdows (49) helped Chippy to 177-7, but an unbeaten 93 from Paul Atkins saw Westbury to victory at 179-4.

There were three stand-out performances at Ducklington, who booked their place in the second round of the Osberton Radiators Cup with a 66-run win over visitors Stonesfield.

Elliott Bryant scored a maiden century (105) as Ducklington posted 214 all out against the visitors, for whom Dan Taylor returned superb figures of 8-51.

Stonesfield were bowled out for 148 in reply as Jacob Hughes took 5-22 from 12 overs.

Wolvercote 2nd cruised to a ten-wicket win at home to Swinbrook 2nd.

Mark Reed’s 61 was the main contribution in Swinbrook’s 113 all out, but David Gilham (66no) and Chris Babbs (32no) made light work of the target as Wolvercote eased to 115-0.

East & West Hendred 2nd saw off visitors Witney Swifts 2nd by seven wickets in a fine run chase.

There were two father and son performances with David Craig hitting 45 and his dad Derek 33 in Swifts’ 209-8.

And Hendred emulated that as youngster Elliot Hutt hit 71 and father Nigel 56 not out to see Hendred to 210-3.

Muhammed Adil took 6-40, but finished on the losing side as Cowley International 2nd lost by three wickets at home to Wootton & Boars Hill 2nd.

Tayyub Sabi hit 33 in Cowley’s 143-9, while Simon Steer took 4-26 for Wootton.

The visitors replied with 144-7 as Marcus Charman hit 48 and Martin Bungay 44 to seal a place in the second round.

Gary Doggett top-scored with 70 to see Kilkenny 2nd into the second round of the Centenary Cup with a sevenwicket win at Sunningwell 2nd.

The hosts were restricted to 136-9 from their 45 overs, before Doggett and Daniel Floyd (43no) led Kilkenny to 137-7.

Risinghurst 2nd saw off hosts Dorchester by five wickets.

Asif Khan took 4-25 as Dorchester were bowled out for 104, and then Scott Thomas hit 37 in his side’s 105-5, 13-year-old Tom Ferris taking 3-36.

Marcham 2nd eased past visitors Hanney 2nd by nine wickets.

Gary Butler (3-21) and Richard Wightman (3-24) combined to dismiss Hanney for 118 and then Robin Himpson hit 44 not out to see Marcham to 119-1.

Barkat Ahmed had a superb day with the ball as his 7-27 helped Wolvercote into the second round of the Telegraph Cup with a 126-run victory at Hanborough.

Ben Proctor hit 93 and Sahil Agarwal 50 in Wolvercote’s 216-9, before Ahmed’s seven wickets helped to dismiss the hosts for 90.

Cairns Fudge were too strong for hosts Westcott in a 160-run victory.

Tom Small hit 92 out of Fudge’s 244-6 and Westcott crashed to 84 all out in reply as Jamie Clark and Jeremy Talbot took three wickets apiece.

Kilkenny hammered Eynsham by nine wickets after skittling their hosts out for just 53.

Bradley Bryant was the pick of the Kilkenny bowlers with 5-17, and then Josh Bishop hit a quickfire 32 not out to see Kilkenny to victory.

Deddington fared even worse as they were shot out for 30 at home to Stanton Harcourt, for whom John Woodward took 5-26 and Luke Pettifer 3-3.

Harcourt eased home without losing a wicket.

Kidlington edged past hosts Fringford by one wicket in a thriller.

Ed Wilmot claimed 4-29 in Fringford’s 164-8, before Kidlington reached 165-9 as Andy Oliver hit 34.

Hook Norton scrambled a bye off the last ball of the match to secure an enthralling two-wicket win at home to Westbury 2nd in the Steve Dixon Cup.

Jason Davis took 3-45 for Hooky to restrict the visitors to 153-9, Dan Willett hitting 52.

Adam Bennett (39), Rob Webb (33) and Richard Knight (30) shone for Hooky, who scraped over the line with that last ball extra.

Fifteen-year-old Adam Barnes made a maiden century to help West Ilsley to a 98-run win at home to Bampton.

West Ilsley posted a commanding 222-7, thanks to Barnes’s superb ton.

Bampton were shot out for only 124 in their reply as John Bowness took 4-59, Simon Launder top-scoring for the visitors with 35.

Sunningwell proved a class above hosts Hanney as they cruised to a 196-run win.

Sam Baker hit 85 and JJ Smith 41 as Sunningwell rattled up 271-9.

Hanney were skittled out for just 75 in reply, with Adam Duffield and Andy Claydon capturing three wickets apiece.

In league action, Minster Lovell were involved in a dramatic tie at home to Westbury in Division 1.

The hosts were shot out for 101, with Nathan Harris scoring 35 and Graham Judd taking 5-23.

However, Westbury also found runs hard to come by and were also 101 all out, with Paul Atkins making 40 and Jack Simpson taking 4-5.

Joe Fullerton smashed a century to help Hailey to a 79-run Division 4 victory at Britwell Salome.

Fullerton’s 102 and Jack Wood’s unbeaten 56 helped Hailey to 276-8, before Sean King claimed 4-45 to restrict Britwell to 197-5.

In Division 8, Chadlington 2nd won by 36 runs at home to Uffington 2nd.

Paul Duester’s 45 was the only meaningful contribution in Chadlington’s 85 all out.

Toby Strong then took 4-8 and Rupert Townsend 4-11 as Uffington were skittled for 49.

In Division 10, hosts Chalgrove’s 80 all out was too many for Stanton Harcourt 2nd, who were bowled out for 38 to lose by 42 runs.

Charlbury 3rd were beaten by six runs at home to Deddington 2nd.

Deddington were bowled out for 154 with Matthew Doran taking 4-21.

Alasdair Harley hit 72 not out in Charlbury’s reply, but they were restricted to 148-7.

Britwell Salome 2nd cruised to a ten-wicket win at Kennington 2nd.

Zaffir Hussain took 4-22 in Kennington’s 97, before Nigel Joyner hit 70 not out.
