EAMONN Deeley was awe-struck when he caught this magnificent specimen on a trip to Loch Awe in Scotland.

Fishing with float ledgered trout in three feet of water, Deeley caught this 21-pound pike on a 30lb braided main line and size eight hooks.

“This fantastic fish was definitely the highlight of my trip,” said the Cowley-based fisherman, who caught others weighing 15lb and 11lb.

Over the fortnight he landed 24 pike.

Another happy angler was Mal Talbot, who broke the record weight on Oakfield Fishery’s Woodpecker Lake for a narrow victory last Saturday.

The Kamasan GOT Baits matchman hauled in total of 157.3.8, to win by less than two pounds from Banbury Gunsmiths’ Derek Hammond.

Henry Clarke won Kidlington Angling Society’s last close-season canal open match with 5.8.0 to pip runner-up Anthony Tompkins, who had 5.4.0.

Jason Bean was third on 4.9.0.
