ARCHIE Spittles scored a magnificent century as Magdalen College School Under 15s recorded an 87- run victory over Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, Amersham, in the first round of the Lord’s Taverners National Cup.
Spittles rattled up a superb knock of 150 from 91 balls – a record innings for the ground – as MCS scored a massive 278-7 from their 35 overs.
Challoner’s were positive in reply, but after James Liebrecht dismissed their dangerous middle order with some fine bowling the target proved too big and they fell 87 runs short, with ultimately the knock from Spittles proving the key.
