FORMER Cheltenham Festival winner Bertie’s Dream could be in action at the Warwickshire Hunt meeting at Mollington, near Banbury, on Bank Holiday Monday (2pm).

The 12-year-old, who sprang a shock in the 2010 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle is now a prolific winner on the East Anglian point-to-point scene.

He features among a high-class entry of 14 for the AGA Mixed Open, which also includes Vincitore, who won a Warwick hunter chase for trainer-rider Claire Hart last time out.

“We’ll run him where we can find the best ground,” said Hart, who rode her first treble at the last Mollington meeting.

“We want to qualify him for the AGA Ladies’ race at Stratford.”

Killimore Cottage could also line up, with Fred Hutsby expecting his charge to benefit from the application of blinkers.

Aston Rowant handler Alan Hill, fresh from his big double at Cheltenham’s hunter chase meeting on Wednesday with Harbour Court and Quinz, expects The Crumpet Mine to improve on his Kingston Blount third in the maiden race over two miles and five furlongs.

“He jumped brilliantly,” said the champion trainer. “He will come on for the experience.”

Pauline Harkin, who trains at Chipping Warden, near Banbury, is bullish about The King of Angels, who is entered in the confined race.

The 13-year-old bounced back to form at Garthorpe last weekend.

Harkin said: “He won well in a quick time and is full of himself.

“You wouldn’t know he’d had a race.”

Hart intends to run Kazuri Kate, who disappointed when sixth at Chaddesley Corbett.
