OXFORDSHIRE kept their outside chances of promotion alive with an exciting 19-17 win over Devon in their BDO Inter-Counties Championship Division 1 match at Bicester.

In their penultimate match of the season, Oxon bounced back from the defeat to bottom club Somerset to claim the three bonus points.

There was nothing to separate the teams on the first day, with both B teams finishing level.

Tina Hamilton, Cath Birch, and Laura Ross struck for the ladies.

For the men, Dan Butler, Kevin Wilkins, Joe Palmer, Brendan Kearns, Glen West and Geordie Grant all tasted success.

Yet another draw with the Ladies A team, where Casey Gallagher, Clare Bywaters and Deta Hedman were Oxon’s winners, meant it all rested on the Men’s A clash.

After Oxon dropped the first game, Jon Jukes (31.72) responded with a man-of-the-match display.

Preben Krabben, Stephen Wright and Peter Hall also came out on top and while the next two legs were lost, Ade Larner, Nick Cobb and Ian Moss won to seal a 7-5 victory.

It leaves Oxon needing a massive win away to Dorset in their final match next month to stand any chance of going up.
