Didcot Town missed a great chance to lift their Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West play-off bid as they let slip a lead in a 2-2 draw at North Leigh yesterday.

The Railwaymen are five points behind fifth-placed Larkhall, who lost, with three games remaining.

The visitors started the stronger, with Sam Elkins and Jimmy Deabill denied by Matt Bulman in the Millers’ goal.

So it was against the run of play that North Leigh went ahead on 18 minutes.

Jon Else’s cross found Michael Hopkins, who clipped a shot into the far corner.

North Leigh’s Kieran Sanders had the ball in the net, but it was ruled offside.

Didcot levelled in first-half injury time. A long ball into the Millers’ box found John Mills, who controlled it before firing past Bulman from 12 yards for his 54th goal of the season.

Didcot went ahead on 55 minutes when Mills controlled a Deabill flick and turned before bagging his second.

However, the Millers equalised on 59 minutes.

Brian Bowles went on a mazy run from inside the Didcot half before hitting a right foot shot from six yards which Foster got a hand to, but couldn’t stop going in.

Both sides pushed for a winner with Mills blasting over and North Leigh’s Morgan Williams firing wide from three yards, but neither could make the breakthrough.
