Grove produced a stunning comeback to win the biggest prize in the club’s history and beat Oxford Harlequins 24-22 in the Oxfordshire Cup final.

Roger Sevier’s 78th-minute conversion following Harry Carr’s try, completed a memorable win at Iffley Road.

Allan Purchase scored the only try of the first half for Quins, while Huw Dimond and Sevier kicked three penalties apiece.

The two fly-halves traded penalties after the break, before flanker Richard Battson dived over in the corner for Quins’ second try and give them a ten-point lead.

However, Grove responded through Joe Bellinger’s unconverted score to keep themselves in the frame.

And Carr went over on 78 minutes, with Sevier adding the extras from the touchline to complete the turnaround.

Harlequins dominated the early exchanges and Dimond kicked two penalties, with Guy Nicholl yellow-carded for handling in the ruck.

Sevier hit the post with one kick, but made no mistake with his next effort.

Straight from the kick-off, Jack Robinson made up great ground and, from a catch and drive, led to Purchase going over for an unconverted try.

Grove responded with a Sevier penalty and the fly half added another after Pete Boulton was sent to the sin bin.

Both sides struggled to make ground as the half came to a close, while Sevier’s attempted penalty from just inside the Quins half fell short.

However, Quins added to their tally before half-time, with Dimond adding another three points from the boot to make it 14-9 at the break.

Dimond and Sevier struck shortly after the restart, but when Rory Gratwohl was sent to the bin, Quins took full advantage, with Battson going over in the corner.

Grove dug deep and were boosted by Bellinger scoring.

Sevier missed the conversion, but the momentum seemed to shift in Grove’s favour, especially when Purchase was sin-binned.

With two minutes remaining, Grove kicked to the corner and Carr dramatically touched down for 22-22.

Sevier brilliantly kicked the conversion, but Grove still had a nervous finish.

In the last minute, Dimond had a chance to nick it, but his penalty fell short and wide.
