CHINNOR’s Under 15 and 17 sides are celebrating after both teams won silverware on Sunday.

The Under 15s were crowned Oxfordshire champions after beating Witney 19-5 at Kingsey Road.

More success came in the National Under 17s South West Divisional Cup Final, where Chinnor hammered Amersham and Chiltern 31-0.

They will now face Sevenoaks at Henley in the South final on April 19.

In the Under 15s clash, Tom Aslett’s unconverted try gave Chinnor an early lead, before Lawrence Burkett crashed through a couple of tackles to score.

Sam Nicholls converted for 12-0.

Chinnor were forced to resist a series of Witney attacks before the break.

In the second half, Chinnor made the most of their opponents’ tiring legs, with Nicholls going over.

He added the extras, despite the windy conditions.

Witney got on the scoreboard when Joe Booth raced over for an unconverted try and, with ten minutes to go, pushed for another score, but Chinnor held on for victory.
