Alloa 2, East Fife 2

ALLOA were unlucky in nine minutes with a free kick by Willie

Newbigging rebounding from a post but they broke through in 33 minutes

when Keith McCulloch fired home from seven yards.

Just after the interval a low angular shot by Alan Irvine slipped

through Jim Butter's fingers and the striker put Fife ahead 10 minutes

later with a 16-yard shot.

Andy Willock equalised after Steve Ramsay's long drive was pushed out

by keeper Ray Charles.

Stenhousemuir 3, Montrose 4

MONTROSE just deserved the points. 'Muir were first on attack and in

10 minutes a pass from Steve Dickov found Adrian Sprott, who shot home

from 10 yards out.

Montrose were back level in 25 minutes, a miskick by Neil Aitken

letting Andy Wilocki touch the ball past the advancing keeper.

Near the break a fine cross by Miller Mathieson found Sprott running

in on goal and his header restored the lead.

A minute after the restart Peter Godfrey brought down Cooper and

Wilocki gave the keeper no chance from the penalty spot.

Cooper put Montrose ahead for the first time but Lloyd Haddow

equalised in 64 minutes with a brilliant run and shot. Montrose

continued to do more attacking and nine minutes from time a superb

overhead kick by Taylor earned the points.

Berwick Rangers 1,

Queen of the South 2

STEVE Mallan put Queens ahead in 20 minutes after keeper Gary O'Connor

could only fist an Andy Thomson cross into his path. Striker Thomson had

been denied two minutes earlier when Mark Cowan cleared his netbound

shot, but he made no mistake in 34 minutes, taking his tally for the

season to 22 with a perfectly executed goal from an acute angle.

Warren Hawkes reduced the arrears with a blistering 20-yard drive

seven minutes before the break.

Cowdenbeath 1, Forfar 2

COWDEN may have won a home game last Saturday in the Scottish Cup, but

the Central Park jinx for league matches still survives.

A last-minute goal by substitute Ray Smith, his second of the match,

gave Forfar a narrow win even though the Fifers had scored first.

Cowdenbeath broke the deadlock in 57 minutes when Nicky Henderson shot

home from close range, but Forfar were level five minutes later when

Smith, who had replaced injured David Bingham midway in the first half,

pounced in the box to shoot home. Minutes later Smith nearly did the

trick again with a shot which rebounded off a post.

Both sides had chances but in a last all-out attack, Bobby Mann headed

across goal for Smith to score the winner.
