PETE Davies says Henley Hawks will not be relying on Oxfordshire rivals Chinnor to do them a favour as they look to clinch the National League 2 South title tomorrow.

Hawks are 15 points clear at the top with four games remaining and face relegation-threatened Shelford at Dry Leas (3).

They need a bonus point win to have a chance of being crowned champions, but it also depends on second-placed Bishop’s Stortford, who visit Chinnor (3).

Matt Williams’ side would help Hawks claim the title if they were to beat Stortford, or prevent them from earning a bonus point victory.

By winning the league this weekend, Henley would become the first team in National League 2 South history to win the title with three weeks to go.

Head coach Davies said: “The boys want to be able to make a bit of history and that is the motivating factor.

“If Chinnor do us a favour then even better, but we have never relied on them and never will.

“We have prepared exceptionally well this week and the guys are really focused.

“They are so desperate to get it done this weekend.

“Shelford are a proud club and we will give them respect, but we will not let them get in the way of our destiny.”

Henley’s Ed Yarnton and Xavier Andre are injured, while Matt Payne is unavailable.

Connor Murphy, Stuart Philpott and Lloyd Owen return.

Tom Allen moves to full back.

Chinnor are still chasing a top-five finish and first team coach Ricky Khan is aware that by achieving their own aspirations, they will have a say in what happens above them in the table.

He said: “The main thing for us is to keep the players motivated and playing positively.

“We want to win the last four games.

“Our objective is to finish as high as we can and we know that will have an affect on what happens further up.”

Chinnor have made five changes, one positional.

George Blewitt and Ed Keohane replace Jake Olley and Reece Boughton.

Joe Pickett returns, Alfie To’oala starts at No 8 and Ben Manning moves to lock.
