Didcot Girls’ School stayed on course for a third successive national title with an emphatic 7-1 win at Highworth (Ashford, Kent) in the ESFA Under 15 PlayStation Schools’ Cup semi-final.

Mollie Dyer and Freeleigh Parnell hit hat-tricks as Didcot, champions at under 13 and 14 for the past two years, booked their place in the finals festi - val at Reading’s Madejski Stadium from May 18-20.

There they will play Woldgate College (Pocklington, Yorkshire), who won 2-1 at Ashton on Mersey (Sale, Cheshire) in the other semi-final.

Didcot were taken to extra time by Highworth at the same stage last year before triumphing 4-3, but this time they ran out convincing winners.

Dyer scored twice in the first ten minutes, before Parnell made it 3-0.

Abbey Davies pulled a goal back for Highworth just before half-time, but Dyer completed her hat-trick after the break.

Parnell then curled home her sec - ond, before bringing up her treble by heading in Dyer’s corner.

Centre back Ally Paton smashed home a shot to seal Didcot’s triumph.

Leanne Walker, Didcot’s head of PE, said: “This a phenomenal achievement and one that we, as a school, are extremely proud of.

“The talent within the team is incredible and they are fantastic role models to all young girls aspiring to play football to the very highest of standards.”

OXFORDSHIRE’S Under 16 boys retained the Alec Perkins Shield as winners of the Southern Section of the South West Counties competition with a 3-1 victory over Berkshire at Milton United.

Berkshire took the lead after 20 minutes when Charlie Caske fired a free-kick home from 25 yards.

Oxfordshire equalised early in the second half, Sam Beaumont driving home the loose ball after Kei Chamberlain’s shot was saved.

Canice Carroll then rose to head in a Chamberlain corner.

And Horatio Hirst scored on the rebound, after his initial shot had been parried, to wrap up victory.

GEORGE Carder’s second-half double inspired Vale of White Horse Under 15s to a 3-1 win at Gosport & Fareham in the Wright Cup quarter-final.

Gosport opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, but Vale levelled after the break when Carder headed home a Chris Gould corner at the far post.

Five minutes later, Carder fired Vale ahead from close range following another corner taken by James Darling.

Carder then supplied the cross for Josh Dennis to turn in Vale’s third, which sealed a home semi-final against Southampton.
