A REFRESHED Danny Hylton is available again after suspension and is aiming to help ease the frustrations he saw first-hand in midweek among Oxford United supporters.

The U’s top scorer makes a welcome return to the fold for tomorrow’s trip to high-flying Shrewsbury Town, after serving a two-game ban for collecting ten bookings.

Michael Appleton’s men go into the game looking for a response, after losing 2-0 at home to rock bottom Hartlepool United.

It provoked discontent from some supporters and Hylton, who was watching from the stands, admitted he could sympathise with the reaction.

He said: “I can understand why they’re frustrated.

“It probably wasn’t good enough at times, we’re at home against the team at the bottom who are fighting for their lives.

“You can take getting beat by a better team, but if it comes down to a team that wants it more than you, that’s when a crowd can get frustrated.

Latest United news:

“I think that’s why a lot of the lads here are frustrated, it wasn’t like us and we need to again sort ourselves out and start picking up some points.”

He added: “There are rewards if you can be the hero by scoring some goals and winning games.”

The result saw concerns about getting dragged into a fight for survival resurface, as the gap to the bottom two was cut to six points.

Hylton, who went down with Aldershot two seasons ago, felt the league table should provide a powerful incentive for everyone at the club to show their ability, starting at Shrewsbury.

He said: “We’re near the bottom of the Football League – it’s basically saying at the minute we’re one of the worst teams in football.

“I don’t like that one bit, I don’t think it reflects myself, the manager, the staff or the players.

“I think we’re way better than we’re showing and we need to get motivated and sort ourselves out.”

Hylton has 15 goals for the season, but only two of those have come since Christmas.

The 26-year-old is hoping the enforced break through the suspension will have recharged his batteries, which will see him return to top form.

He said: “I feel fresher so hopefully I can play a bit like how I was in the early part of the season.”
