Sam Wharton's late winner gave Oxford University Press a thrilling 4-3 home victory over Oakley United in the Oxfordshire Senior League’s President’s Cup semi-final.

Shayne Almond put the visitors 1-0 up at half-time, but goals from Neil Lockhart, Kyle Moss and Johnny Roberts in the early stages of the second half put OUP firmly in command.

Oakley hit back with quick goals from Tom Gant and James Keeble.

But just when the game looked destined for a draw, Sam Wharton met Jamie McCuaig’s excellent ball across to bag an 89th-minute winner for the home side.

In the Premier Division, Horspath won 2-1 at home to Chalgrove thanks to a second- half winner from Noel Fox.

Anthony Clarke’s superb 25-yard effort had put the home side ahead, only for Nick Skiller to level after taking advantage of a defensive mix-up.

But Fox beat the keeper and slotted home the winning goal after the break.

North Oxford recovered from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 at home to Kidlington Old Boys in Division 1.

Sam Jeffrey was red-carded in the 88th minute of Garsington Res’ match at home to Eynsham Res, but the hosts hung on for a 0-0 draw.

Louis Winkworth scored a last-minute winner as Adderbury Park Res won 2-1 at home to Mansfield Road Res.

Nick Talbot had put the visitors ahead early on, but Tony Hone equalised in spectacular fashion before Winkworth struck the decisive final blow in the dying moments.
