Wantage-based jockey Cathy Gannon, who has not ridden since November 2013 due to a shoulder injury, is set to make her comeback at Chelmsford City tomorrow, writes RUSSELL SMITH.
The 33-year-old rider will partner Rambo Will in the 4.00 for Royston trainer John Jenkins after her licence application was approved by the British Horseracing Authority last week. She said: “It is all looking good and I am happy to be back and looking forward to the season.
“I was hoping to be back for the start of the (turf) season and my licence came back quicker than I thought.”
Gannon gave birth to a baby boy, Aaron, 11 weeks ago, but she has kept up her fitness levels.
“I have been swimming throughout my pregnancy and been on the bike up to eight months, and have been walking every day,” she said.

She has been riding out for the last four weeks at the yards of local trainers Henry Candy, Mick Channon and Eve Johnson Houghton.
“I will be a bit rusty race-riding, but the only way is to get back racing,” she said.
Gannon has won twice before on Rambo Will. And she added: “He is a front-running horse over five furlongs and I am hoping for a good run.
“He is game and consistent and he will be a nice ride.”
