BANBURY United manager Paul Davis believes his side’s home form will be key to their chances of Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division survival.

The Puritans have the worst home record in the league, with just 14 points from their 17 matches at the Spencer Stadium.

They host 13th-placed Chippenham Town tomorrow afternoon, the first of several matches against mid-table opposition, and Davis feels it will give his side a great opportunity.

He said: “We have five home games and we need five wins.

“There are probably 12 teams in the league who’ve maybe got nothing to play for and I think you’re better off playing against those sides at this point in the season, because they’re looking forward to next year.

“We’ve got five home games left and of those, probably only Weymouth have anything to play for, so we have to look at that as a great opportunity.

“Looking at some of the other teams around us, they seem to have more difficult run-ins than we do. If you look at Frome's fixtures, they have to play four of the top five sides.

“I think probably, with 11 games to go, it is still in our hands.”

Winger Kynan Isaac is doubtful with a groin injury that he picked up in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Arlesey Town, while defender Joel Meade remains sidelined with a foot injury.
