Aston Rowant trainer Alan Hill is expecting a big run from Ravethebrave at Kingston Blount’s opening meeting of the season tomorrow (1pm).

The 11-year-old gelding is among a small, but select entry for the men’s open at the Kingston Blount Racing Club fixture, close to junction 6 of the M40.

Hill, last year’s champion trainer, said of his charge: “He likes Kingston Blount and is in awesome form.”

Ravethebrave’s rivals may include last year’s winner, Silver Story, the quirky, but talented Golan Way and the progressive Moroman.

Hill could be mob-handed at the meeting with 14 entries, including course specialist Start Royal, who is on track to repeat last year’s win in the ladies’ open.

Claire Hart, fresh from completing her half-century of career winners on Little Chip at Cocklebarrow last weekend, rides Oscars Well.

With the top-class 15-yearold That’s Rhythm – unbeaten in points for Page Fuller – and the smart My Flora among potential opposition, it promises to be a hot race.

A bumper entry at the meeting includes the improving Out Of Range, from Pauline Harkin’s Edgcote yard, near Banbury, who could line up in the intermediate race alongside Hill’s Man of Steel.

Shutthebackdoor, a half brother to Grand National ante-post favourite Shutthefrontdoor, is entered in the restricted.
