OXFORD City star Megan Humphreys produced one of the best performances of her fledgling career to finish tenth in the English Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill in London.

Humphreys completed the hilly and muddy course in 20mins 4secs to round-off the national top ten in the women’s under 17 race.

She pipped Aldershot Farnham & District runner Daisy D’Santos to tenth by two seconds.

Humphreys’s teammates, Jess Duckett and Ciara Huxley, finished in 73rd and 142nd respectively in the 235-strong field.

In the senior men’s race, Aaron Burgess was the highest Oxford City athlete, coming home in 178th place.

Abingdon’s Cordelia Parker put in a superb performance to finish 39th in a time of 26.11 in the women’s under 20 race.

Promising sprinter Ryan Craze smashed Radley’s club record for the second successive year when competing in an open meeting at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.

Craze starred in the under 17 60m, where he followed up last year’s club record with a new mark of 7.23secs, an improvement of nearly three tenths of a second.

He followed this with a 200m time of 23.19, an improvement of 0.8 secs on his previous best.

At the British Universities’ Championships in Sheffield, Abingdon’s Jemma Gregory and Owen Stepney achieved personal bests in the 400m and 1500m respectively.

Elsewhere, Abingdon’s Duncan Talbot won four gold medals at the Southern Counties Veterans Indoor, Championships at Lee Valley.

He won the men’s 60 high jump in a new championship best performance of 1.47m, which is also a new county and club age group record.

Talbot also captured the triple jump, long jump and the 60m hurdles titles.

Oxford City’s Les Newell was the county’s best performer at the Bourton 10K, finishing 12th in a time of 34.25.
