LEE Henderson scored a late equaliser as Oxford City came from behind to draw 1-1 at Chorley in Vanarama Conference North last night.

Henderson headed home a Tom Winters corner with ten minutes remaining to give Justin Merritt’s side a point.

City, who started with Salva de la Cruz in goal and Mark Scott on the bench, were under constant pressure in the early stages.

They were fortunate not to go behind when Aaron Burns hit the bar with a well-struck effort.

And they had another let off when James Dean went clear, but shot wide.

Despite the near misses, Chorley went ahead four minutes after half-time.

A cross from Andy Teague was headed in by Dean.

City responded well, but prolific goalscorer Adi Yussuf had an evening to forget, squandering several opportunities to equalise.

City almost levelled when Paul Stonehouse crashed a shot against the bar, and Jose Lapoujade fired over the rebound.

Tom Winters also went close, before Henderson did make the breakthrough.

City were given a late score, though, Salva doing well to push away a Harry Winter effort.
