SHANE McGowran came up with the winning penalty as East Hendred reached the North Berks League Charity Shield semi-finals at the expense of Berinsfield, writes PHIL ANNETS.

A Ben Sutton penalty and a Liam McCullough half volley had given Division 2 hosts Hendred a two-goal lead.

Berinsfield hit back with a Mark Ingram spot-kick and a late free-kick from David Murphy to make it 2-2, but after a goalless extra time, Hendred won 4-3 in the shoot-out.

Wayne Waldron hit a hat-trick for Saxton Rovers in their 7-2 win at fellow Division 1 side Ardington & Lockinge.

Steve Pitson also scored twice, alongside goals from Kyle Allsworth and George Miles, while Tom Rowe and Liam Eltham netted in vain for Ardington.

Dan Oyston and Richard Evans gave Faringdon Town a 2-1 win against Abingdon Town.

Danny Sayer and James Hicks gave East Hendred Res a 2-0 win at Stanford in the Vale Res.

Dorchester Res lost 4-0 at Kintbury Rangers Res, for whom Alistair Shambrook (3) and Charlie Allsop scored.

In Division 1, Long Wittenham Athletic made it seven successive wins with a 3-1 victory at Wallingford Town.

John Willis, Tim Barton and Will Houseman all netted for the visitors, with Sam Larking on target for Wallingford.

There was also a 3-1 victory for Dorchester, who ended their nine-match losing streak at home to Crowmarsh Gifford.

Joe Morgan, Charlie Lee and Jamie Fleet scored for the home side with Darryl Franklin replying.

Rhys Griffiths scored four goals for Sutton Courtenay at Westminster in Division 2, but couldn’t stop them losing 5-4.

A Luke Lewis-Rippington double and one goal each for Pete Lamont, Dan Hill and Mark Penner won it.

A Rob Fathers brace secured a 2-1 home win for Marcham against Faringdon Town Res, after Dom Willis had put the visitors ahead.

Shane Butlin netted four as Steventon ran out 8-1 winners at Saxton Rovers Res.
