TAKARA Haines scored twice as Oxford Hawks Ladies returned to form with a resounding 5-0 victory at home to Olton & West Warwicks in Investec Conference West on Saturday.

Haines opened the scoring early on, beating her marker and driving into the area before smashing the ball against the backboard.

Hawks doubled their lead after 23 minutes, when Jo Tolson picked up a rebound and finished well.

From the pushback, Olton almost pulled a goal back, but a crucial save from Linda Billington and a later goalline clearance from Caro Harris kept them out.

In the second half Olton began to tire, and Hawks ploughed forward, with goalkeeper Billington just a spectator.

They scored a third when skipper Bex Oakes passed to Hie Sawyer, who struck home the third from the edge of the D, much to the delight of the strong home support Two minutes later, Lucy Millington played a clever cross on her reverse stick to find Abi Flory, who deflected the ball into an empty goal.

The final goal came when Haines collected the ball at the top of the area and powered it into the roof of the net, to round off a strong performance.

Witney bounced back from their disappointing defeat by Banbury to beat hosts Maidenhead 2nd 2-0 and return to the top of South Clubs League Division 3A.

They took the lead after a fine cross from Izzy Hayes was finished off by Sharon Hall.

The visitors continued to press and created a second goal when Helen Backhouse crossed for Amy Williams to score.

In the second half, a number of cards were issued to the visitors including a disputed yellow resulting in the Witney keeper being sinbinned, leaving their reshuffled defence having to hold the fort.

But Witney held on for a valuable win.
