DAVID Bruce strengthened his grip on the men’s Oxford Mail Cross Country League standings as his 100 per cent record this season continued in the fourth round at Cirencester.
The Oxford City athlete, who missed the first round, completed his hat-trick in a closely-fought race.
Bruce crossed the line in 32mins 36secs, just ahead of guest athlete Sullivan Smith (32.43), who was well clear of Woodstock Harriers’ James Bolton (33.44).
With Bruce’s teammate Simon Fisher next across the line, Oxford City, who were already well clear in the standings, comfortably won the team event on the day.
Diane Moore (Headington Road Runners) was the highest local finisher in the women’s race.
She finished third in 26.10 to consolidate her lead in the Vet 35 standings, coming behind winner Sophie Crumly (Newbury) and Jenny Manners, of the host club.
Oxford City had another winner on the day, with Callum Bampton (18.55) a minute clear in the under 15/17 boys race.
Radley had a pair of first places to celebrate.
Benjamin Cumberland won the under 11 boys race in 4.18, just ahead of teammates Rowan Miell-Ingram (4.18) and William D’Arcy (4.20).
And in the under nine girls and boys event, Quinn MiellIngram came out on top, leading home Banbury’s Ruben Snelson.
