FIONA Bunn recorded a fourth successive win at the Vale of White Horse Schools’ Cross Country Championships by retaining her under 17 girls’ title at Radley College.

Bunn, the winner at under 15 in 2012 and 2013, led home a clean sweep of the first three places for St Helen & St Katharine School, Abingdon, in the 3.1k race by coming home ahead of Florence Wiggins and Flora Insley.

She was one of three winners for the school, with Elen Jackson taking the under 15 honours and Anna Pettit leading home a one-two at under 13 from Emily Scrivener – both over 2.2k.

Clara Kantor (European, Culham) prevented St Helen & St Katharine claiming a full house of individual wins by beating Katherine Ellis in the under 19 race over 3.1k.

However, it couldn’t stop the Abingdon school from taking all four team titles and the aggregate trophy for the under 13-17 events.

Will Crisp captured his third Vale crown by leading home a one-two for Faringdon School in the under 17 race over 5.3k from Archie Scott.

Crisp won the under 13 race in 2012 and the under 15 crown in 2013.

Abingdon School’s Nat Jones, winner at under 17 last year, took the under 19 boys’ title from teammate Teddy Curtis in the 6.2k event.

It completed a double on the day for Abingdon following Alex Pennington’s success in the under 13 race over 3.1km who was first across the line ahead of Abingdon’s Freddie Cunningham and Archie Brew (King Alfred’s, Wantage).

Will James (Our Lady’s, Abingdon) triumphed at under 15 over 4.4k, with Frederick Stanley (European) runner-up and Radley’s Freddie Thackeray third.

European captured the aggregate trophy for the under 13-17 team races.

The Vale runners will be looking for more success in the Oxfordshire Schools’ Cross Country Championships back at Radley on Tuesday (1.45).
