Wantage Town are looking to build on their first victory under manager Daniel Barry as they host fellow strugglers Clevedon Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West tomorrow.

Barry had been waiting since his appointment in October for a first taste of success at Wantage and said that Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Cinderford Town had given them a fresh boost of confidence.

“For once we got a result we deserved and a bit of luck, which hasn’t been the case recently,” he said.

“It was a nice to see smiles on people’s faces as 2014 was very hard for everyone connected to the club.

“I hope we can now push on.

“We need to make sure we approach every game in the right way and hopefully with a bit more luck and good play we can pick up a few more points to ensure we are in the Southern League next season.”

Adam Doyle misses out with a knee injury and John McMahon is suspended after picking up five bookings while with Chinnor.

But George Reid and Jake Johns return to the squad after missing Tuesday’s game with a leg and foot injuries respectively.

Didcot Town joint manager Ian Concannon said he expects a reaction when they travel to Larkhall Athletic after the Railwaymen’s 17-game unbeaten run in the league was brought to an end at AFC Totton on Tuesday night.

Concannon was disappointed with his side’s performance in the 5-3 defeat and is targeting an immediate return to form tomorrow.

He said: “I fully expect a reaction. It just wasn’t good enough and the players know that.

“We’re not happy about it, but the players know it wasn’t good and we move on to Larkhall where we’ll look to put it right.

“We certainly won’t be as poor as that on Saturday, because that was the worst we’ve played all season.”

Midfielder Andy Ballard starts a suspension, while striker Pablo Haysham faces a fitness test after rolling an ankle.

North Leigh are aiming to inflict just a third league defeat of the season on leaders Merthyr Town.

Despite the unavailability of midfielder Aaron Woodley, the Millers have the opportunity to stretch their own unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.

It followed their impressive 3-1 win over Stratford Town in the Red Insure Cup on Wednesday.
