Oxford City’s Jade O’Dowda struck gold for the second successive year at the South of England AA Combined Events Championships at Lee Valley.

The 15-year-old, from Kidlington, followed up her success in the under 15 competition last year by capturing the under 17 women’s title this year.

She triumphed with a personal best 3,374 points with Radley’s Alice Hopkins finishing runner-up with a club record 3,120 points.

O’Dowda’s performances included an improvement of more than a metre in her shot to 10.07m.

In her first race over the under 17 60m hurdles, she produced a fast time of 9.27secs, and her high jump was an indoor pb of 1.68m.

Hopkins won the 60m hurdles in 9.21 and the long jump with 5.19 on the way to scooping the silver medal.

Radley’s Adela Hussain was the leading senior woman (aged 19 and over) with 3,064 points.

The highlight saw her equal her personal best in the high jump with a clearance of 1.59m.
