Goalscorer Tom Winters admitted Hyde were among the toughest opponents Oxford City have faced this season, despite their 2-0 victory, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

But the winger was glad to have played a key role in securing victory, opening the scoring before setting up Adi Yussuf’s second.

“It was nice to get another goal. That’s two in two for me now,” he said.

“They obviously came with a game plan to close us down and press us high up the pitch because they know we like to play it out from the back, but I think we dealt with it well.

“It wasn’t our best performance, but we got the three points.”

City’s general manager Justin Merritt agreed, but despite seeing his side claim a fifth straight victory, said he was not happy with the performance.

Merritt said: “I’ve already said to the boys that that was a mid-table performance and we need a little bit more than that.

“I think every now and again you have one of those, but momentum is a big thing.

“We’ve won five games in a row now and so can actually get a win when we’re not at our best.

“That shows that we’re coming together and improving, that even not quite on our day we’re able to get the three points.”
