Mark Bradstock believes Ascot winner Flintham could be even better than his illustrious relatives Carruthers and Coneygree.

The five-year-old (7-1) flew the family flag in sparkling style at the Berkshire track on Saturday for Bradstock’s Letcombe Bassett stables, near Wantage, by making virtually all the running to record a game success in the three-mile novices’ handicap hurdle.

Nico de Boinville’s mount refused to be passed when challenged by The Tourard Man, crossing the line with a length and quarter to spare.

Bradstock said of the brother to Carruthers and half-brother to Coneygree: “He is a very good work horse and you never know, and it’s crazy to say, but he could be the best of the lot.”

CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon described Kilcooley’s performance as “exceptional” after the 11-2 shot romped home by 23 lengths under Charlie Deutsch in a two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Haydock on Saturday.

Longsdon and Deutsch teamed up to strike again with Leith Hill Legasi (11-4 fav) at Lingfield yesterday.
